A global observance dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, history, and community.  It honours the ongoing fight for equal rights and commemorates the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, which catalyzed the modern gay liberation movement.  People worldwide gather in June to celebrate love, diversity, and advocate for equal rights.  While June is the focal point, “Pride Season” in Canada encompasses a wide range of events that run throughout the summer from June to September.  The United Church of Canada has and continues to advocate for the dignity and respect of all LGBTQ+ persons.  As a congregation of the United Church of Canada, we encourage Westdale folk to honour the bravery and authenticity of LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters.
